A woman has died in Pennsylvania after a tree fell on her car while she was driving, according to reports.
The Sunday, May 18, incident killed a 59-year-old woman, who authorities have not yet identified, and injured a 64-year-old woman, Lower Merion police said, according to ABC affiliate WPVI.
The tree fell at around 1:45 p.m. local time in Wynnewood, McClatchy reported, according to a police report. The 59-year-old was driving a Toyota Corolla, and the 64-year-old was driving a Nissan Altima when the tree fell, and winds reached 35 mph on the day of the incident.
The outlet reported that both women were taken to the hospital after their cars were struck by the tree, where the 59-year-old woman died and the 64-year-old woman was in stable condition.
The Lower Merion Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for additional information.
Patrick Glynn, the Deputy Chief of Operations for Narberth Ambulance, described the fallen tree as "kind of a freak accident" to WPVI.
"It's hard to kind of know, especially on main thoroughfares like Lancaster Avenue," Glynn added. "It happens more frequently than people think."
